About Our School

Akure Secondary Commercial  School, Akure located at Oke-Aro quarters Akure, the Ondo State capital  is a government owned institution.  It was founded by  Late Chief (Mrs) M.O. Adeinlewa as a private proprietary school.  It was one of the earliest Secondary Schools to be established in Akure.  In deed, it was the first Secondary School in the town to introduce Commercial subject into its curriculum.  The pioneering Principle of the school was the Late Chief Omo Famubo who along with Mr S.M. Omoregha started the school.  His pioneering activities laid a sold foundation from the school.

On 1st January, 1968, a new principal Mr. (Now Revd) Cannon J.O. Olugasa took over the mantle of leadership of the school.  His era was marked with great achievement and high level of discipline. His contribution to the progress of the school was very tremendous.

The school which took off with only fifty student in 1965 has grown over the years and can now boast of a student population of about two thousand.  As a result of the government take-off of all post-primary schools in the then Western Nigeria, the school become government –owned.

The school has been continually blessed with seasoned, dedicated, industrious, and disciplined principals as well as staff with a wide range of skill and great wealth of experience in teaching, guiding and nurturing of boys and girls so as to gain know ledge and skill that will equal them for a successful future .

The school has produced many and eminent citizens in a variety of disciplines and professions.  many of then have come together under the umbrella of a very strong and formidable Old Students’ Association which is making very remarkable  contribution to the development of the school. The school is currently a special school grade.  It is leaded by a principal assisted by five vice principals.  The school can boast of teaching and non-teaching staff strength of over 100 well-qualified personnel.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

To prepare and develop a whole students who will:

(i)           Embrace essential qualities found in a student which include integrity, honest, sincerity,  soundness, uprightness, reliability, handwork and wholeness in all endeavous.

(ii)          Be useful to God, immediate environment, country and the world at large.

(iii)        Be equipped enough for the challenges of their future role father, mother and career people of their choice.
